Ukkattha, a word derived from the Pali for Excellence, is an annual cultural festival organized by Project Mukti to celebrate the achievements, voices, and creative expressions of our young learners from the Blue Blooms program. Most of our learners come from marginalised communities and study in government schools across Delhi-NCR. The fest embodies our motto: Remember, Reclaim, Rejoice, a collective act of memory, resistance, and celebration.
Ukkattha serves as a transformative space where art becomes a language of learning and liberation, honouring children’s creative journeys while acknowledging the social and political realities they navigate every day.
The theme for Ukkattha 2025, “Reclaiming Land”, seeks to open conversations around ownership, belonging, and justice. The question of whose land it is is not merely about geography or property, it speaks to centuries of caste oppression, forced displacement, gendered labour, religion, and class and the intersections that bind them. Land is memory, labour, and survival, it bears the imprints of those who have cultivated it, cared for it, and yet have been denied their rightful place upon it. Through performances in dance, theatre, and music, our learners will explore how struggles over land mirror struggles over identity, dignity, and livelihood.
This year’s fest marks two milestones: the graduation of our senior students, a proud celebration of their perseverance within systems that often overlook marginalised children, and the launch of our very first storybook by the Blue Blooms/Education team, part of a curriculum that centers and preserves historically silenced voices.
Through Ukkattha, we honour the legacy of India’s anti-caste movements, revolutionary thinkers, visionary educators, reformers and everyday people whose struggles for justice and equality continue to inspire our work.
The Ukkattha Annual Fest 2025 will be held on 14th December 2025 at Muktadhara Auditorium, New Delhi, from 12 PM onwards. It will bring together learners, educators, parents, artists, and allies to collectively reflect, celebrate, and imagine.
If you’re someone who believes in community work and wants to engage with anti-caste feminist spaces, Project Mukti welcomes you to join our Ukkattha Annual Fest. Whether you wish to volunteer, spread the word, or support a part of the program, there’s a place for you here.
